A PLC or Programmable logic controller is basically a control unit to control the whole operations of an automation system. It sends commands of specific information to each unit of that system for coordinating the operations. The other Automation tools like SCADA, HMI etc are operating based on the signals from the PLC. So, we can say PLC is the brain of our Automation system. The mainly used PLCs nowadays are Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, Omron, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Delta, Siemens and ABB etc.
