IP Network CCTV Storage Requirements
In choosing your storage device, there are two key considerations. First, the device must have adequate storage capacity for the application. Second, the compression method must be compatible with that of the rest of the devices. (Jpeg, H.264, etc).
There are three different devices on which IP Storage can be considered. They are as follows:
1. Network Video Recorders
2. Network Additional Storage
3. Offsite Storage
Network Video Recorders:
A typical Network video device could be a PC with a PC screen or could be a purpose-built network video recorder. It connects to IP network, probably existing LAN for the company, with the same simple plug and play connection method of all the other IP devices on the network. But one of the reason is the storage capacity and the security of the data that stored in NVR is very less as compared to Network Additional Storage (NAS)
And Offsite Storage.

If calculations of storage volumes and access speeds required of the network video recorders are hitting the limits of the technology, its time to consider another level of storage. There is a reason for considering Level 2 storage – the security of the data, access speeds required of the network video recorders. Level 1 storage, with data resident on a single PC, is not adequately secure for critical data. Applications requiring long-term storage need a more secure and better-managed storage environment.
Offsite Storage
Offsite storage is primarily used to replicate and back up data from a local storage device or facility to a storage facility located away from the client’s main premises. The key objective of offsite storage is to maintain backup copies of data, in case the primary site is offline, unavailable or is destroyed. The data is usually transferred through the magnetic disk, tape drives or through a secure VPN or Internet connection. service.
